Moss is a living growing organism, which, if left to grow and flourish on your roof, can eventually cause significant and costly damage to your roof tiles. Once this has happened, water can enter the fabric of your building and cause extensive damage.

As moss freezes in the winter, it naturally expands, which is what causes the roof tiles to crack. Over time this problem will only get worse as more significant gaps develop. That is why it is critical to have moss removed from your roof as soon as possible.

Our process is designed to remove the moss without causing any damage to the roof itself. We never use a pressure washer as this is abrasive to your roof tiles and can cause significant long-term problems for your roof.

We physically scrape your roof using hoes, which are attached to telescopic extension poles. Wherever needed, we use a cherry picker to gain access to the roof or an access tower. This gives us the ability to safely access nearly all roofs without causing significant disruption to our customers.

No, after we have removed all of the moss, algae, and lichen from your roof, we then treat it with a biological roof wash, which is only available to professional roof cleaning companies. This product comes with a three year guarantee, meaning that your roof will stay clear of moss for a minimum of three years – normally much longer unless your home is surrounded by trees on the north facing aspect of your roof.

We have invested thousands of pounds in access towers and training to ensure that in over 90 percent of jobs, we never set foot on the roof itself. If there is no other way of accessing an area of your roof then we would use roof ladders as a last resort.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that there are so many variables, this question is impossible to answer generically. As with anything in life, you get what you pay for, if you receive a quote that seems too good to be true, it most probably is, and likewise, if someone quotes you a ridiculously expensive price, then we would see that as a red flag. Numerous factors can affect the price of a roof clean, but the most important ones are

1. The size of your roof – Obviously, the bigger the roof, the more work is involved.
2. The type of tiles from which your roof is constructed – Different tiles require more care and attention, so again this will be reflected in your quotation.
3. Ease of access – If your property is easy to access via our cherry picker or towers, it will reduce the overall cost (Most properties are.) However, if we need to use ladders and other access methods, this may increase the work’s price.
